Your Secrets are safe with me

I do a "Daily Challenge" at Me You Health

(The Daily Challenge promotes everyday well-being by encouraging small actions and fostering the social ties that drive meaningful change.)

Todays challenge was to Ask a friend or relative to name 2 things you're really good at.
I called my Mom, and right away she said that I was good at keeping secrets, and I'm very crafty-creative.
So, I got to thinking about it, and just had to come in to blog about my secret keeping self.

Yes, I am a secret keeper..(so to speak).   I believe that if someone confides in me with something personal/private it stays with me. (period!)   I've just always been that way.

Oh...I like the gossip like everyone else, when it's all in good fun, and no one will get hurt, but like I said..when someone confides about personal stuff  well, my lips are sealed.

It's always nice to have someone we can rant/vent to, and know that it will go no further.  We all need to vent once in awhile..I have a habit of keeping too much in..it's not healthy sometimes.
So today, I'm going to share a secret with you about me, that only my hubby and my Mom knows.
In 1997 I went from an A cup to a C cup.
I know...this kind of thing happens all the time now...it's no big deal, but it's just something I don't share..my BFF doesn't even know.

So, if you have a secret...need to vent...I'm your Girl...I'm a "Secret Keeper"

"My lips are sealed" is a vow to remain silent about a confidential matter.

(don't know why everything is High-lighted..Grr)

Aging..Fighting it all the way!

I was thinking...I do that a lot..I mean like Day dreaming...Zone out..in my own little world.
I also talk to myself...and, I even answer myself.
I get mad at myself, but most of all I Laugh at myself...a lot!
and why not?  Life is too short!

So, that brings me back to what I was thinking about....Hubby and I was driving home from shopping, and was jamming to the radio...yes, we like our music loud and hard...Hubby was a rocker...will always be a rocker at heart.  He still plays on his guitars everyday.
We also (on our drive home) got to laughing at something one of us said...laughing so hard your sides hurt...
We always have fun together...  being goofy in the stores...etc..
We like to take country drives..listening to music, and looking at the country side.
We like to have parties...hike, canoe, bike....Dance!
Life doesn't have to stop when you age...we might be a little more restricted in what we can do, but it shouldn't stop us from enjoying life, and all we can get out of it!
Sure...I'm getting older, but I'm fighting it all the way!

So, we finally made it home...got a few gifts bought, now I'm ready for a nap.  lol

Sunday Morning Tradition

Every Sunday the guys (Gary & Donny) come over for coffee, and Golf..(Tiger Woods golf on the Wii that is...) They sit around chatting about football, Nascar and work.
These guys have worked, and played together for years!
We joke that they are "joined at the hip".
Now, my son has joined in on the activities.

Hubby

Gary

Bo  (Son)

When my hubby and I first got together, I thought..Geez, why do they have to come over so early?  I also work with these guys, and didn't want them all seeing me at my morning worst!  I would get up a little early to at least look presentable.
That lasted about a month... lol

It's nice to have a group of friends that are just like family....
We plan a lot of events with our friends in mind..
I even bring my friend (Vicki - wife to Gary) to my real family events when the hubby is doing something else.   Shhh... Don't tell hubby, but sometimes I have more fun with Vic, than with hubby...He's always ready to go after an hour.

Over all...we have friends and Family in and out of our home all the time.
And, we Love it!

Have a Great Day!

A Thank-you would be Appreciated

Is it not common courtesy to give or send a "Thank you" when you get a gift these days?

Hubby and I have noticed...(well okay.. I noticed, and pointed out to hubby..)  that we've have been to a few weddings in the past year, had several births, Birthday's, Graduation's...etc... In our little circle of Family and Friends, and we always make sure that we give to these events, because we Love these people... and because, We are givers... Pleasers..Like to make people smile kind of people..But I would like some kind of reaction from something we give...Even if it's a lie..just humor me damn-it.

The last wedding reception we went to was for a Friend at work (Hubby and I work the same place).
We gave the newlyweds a card with $ in it, and put it in their "Card basket" on the gift table.
There were a lot of people there...a lot of drinking, and dancing..just a lot of motion...who's to say that someone didn't swipe a card or two thinking there might be Money in it.  (just sayin!)
So, a "Thank you" of any kind would let me know that they even got it.

I guess I'm just Old Fashion.. I like to watch people open the gifts they get.  Today's weddings couples don't even exchange rings...At my nephews wedding they already had their rings on..I was waiting, and waiting for that part of the ceremony, which never came.  Never saw them open gifts...never got a Thank You!
WTF People?

I guess I'll just have to be a little more stingy with my gift giving to these younger folks!
Or...(now that I think about it)..maybe they didn't like my gift, and I should take their no "Thank you for the gift" as a hint!   (hummm...ungrateful little Brats)  Umm, I mean..I'll work on that!
     NOT!
I complain, but I'll still give gifts, because that's the way I roll!

Chubby Girl

So....the other day at work a guy told me I was Chubby....CHUBBY!  Yes, this word hurt my feelings.
After he picked himself up off the floor he said...

Dude:  You were a little thing when you hired in.
Me:  Dude, I was 24 when I hired in.
Dude: Yes well....You've gained some weight.
Me:  (getting really pissed) You will have that when you age...now GO AWAY!  Creep!

Okay...he did hit a nerve...only because I KNOW that I'm not as "Fit" as I was when I was 24.
And It's been on the top of my list to get back into shape...I just didn't like him pointing this fact out!
I think we all know when things need to change, like our weight...etc... we just don't like it when people throw it in our face...and then, sometime we need it as a kick in the butt to get started.
(he's still a creep tho.)

This was going to be a December post...  "Getting Fit"..But now I'm changing the Title to...
"Chubby girl getting Fit"
My plan/goal for 2011 is to be more active, and start eating healthier!

My weight today 11/13/10
137lb
My goal weight...it's not important..as long as I'm getting healthy and fit!
The more I work out the better I feel.

My biggest challenge will be eating healthier!

Have a Great day..
Hugs to all,
 Chubs

Men are Slobs!

So...I just got home from work...it's 12:50am...and I'm beat!
I HATE my job these days!  Don't get me wrong..I am truly Thankful that I have a job, but it's getting to the point to where I dread going in there!

To the guys I relieve at work...Dude, I'm not your Momma..I'm not your wife..I am NOT picking up after you!

I am the only female line operator.  I work with mostly men, and I've come to the conclusion that men are SLOBS!     I can almost tell what they had for lunch by looking on the floor.   I have to work there for 8 hrs. and I never leave a mess like they do...
So, I have to clean my area because I don't want to walk around in their crap all day!   It just drives me nuts!  (see?  I think they know I'll get tired of looking at the mess, and clean it anyways)

Okay...I'm done venting...I'm going to bed!

Note to self......

Get off your butt, and get motivated...Come on girl..it's almost noon and your still in your pj's.
I have started a bad habit lately....turning on the computer before my shower, and the next thing I know...Well... you know how it is when you start surfing your friends blogs, checking email, then on to facebook...time just gets away from you!

I have several projects that need attention...Blanket for a friend (Christmas present)...Baby blanket (boy).. (I have at least 5 more months on that one). New couch pillow's for me...and, all the material for these projects are sitting in the bedroom taking up space. I can make a blanket in a couple of hours, but I keep putting these projects off for some unknown reason.

Okay....so, now it is noon, and I'm still on here.
I'm going now....logging off...hitting the shower...going to do something constructive before work.
Hugs to all....

When I grow up, I want to look just like you!

I ran into an old friend at Wal Mart...we chatted for awhile, and then she paid me a compliment that just about brought tears to my eyes..
She said...Linda, when I grow up, I want to look just like you.. You have a cute little figure!
I know...it's all a little sappy....But,
This compliment came at a time when I really needed it! I'm going to be smiling the rest of the day!

I think when you recieve a compliment from another woman it means more....we all know most men will tell you anything...or lie when you ask: Do these pants make my butt look big?

So...make someones day, and send out some compliments!

Tweezing

Why is it that ever time I get into my car I see an eyebrow that needs plucked?
Or one that I missed.
And, what the heck is growing on my chin? Great...now I have more plucking to do!
Evidently, I need better lighting in my bathroom!

Grumpy Me

We all have bad days...But, why do we almost always take it out on the one's we love?
I was a GRUMP Sat. Mostly because I had to work..(working Sat. on 2nd shift just sucks!)
When I got home I had to work really hard not to take all my grumpiness out on my hubby....He was so happy to see me, and I was a bear. I even warned him, and apologized for being a grump.

Sometimes the hubby is so over whelming.... as soon as I got in the door (8:00 pm) it's... Hi...are you hungry? Do you want something to eat, What do you want to do? Wanna go out to eat? Want to rent a movie?
I love him, but sometimes I just need a minute..or two!

It seems that when we have bad days, it's easy to take it out on our Loved ones, when we really don't mean to.
I'm so glad hubby is so understandable.

Going Crazy for Spring

I am really getting antsy for spring....Cabin fever is setting in, and I just want to get out of the house.
I want to open the doors, and window's to let the fresh air in. The air from the furnace is too dry, and I just feel like I can't breath. We keep the temp. on the furnace turned down to 63. it helps, but we do have to dress a little warmer in our home.

Spring, to me is like a fresh new beginning....Everything is waking up...coming alive! Birds, flowers, bugs.
I like to sit out on the patio on a early spring morning, and just listen to the sounds around me...Breath in the spring smells..Meditate.
Oh, I can't wait for spring!

THE YEAR 1909
This will boggle your mind, I know it did mine!
The year is 1909.
One hundred years ago.
What a difference a century makes!
Here are some statistics for the Year 1909 :

***
The average life expectancy was 47 years.

Only 14 percent of the homes had a bathtub.

Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone.

There were only 8,000 cars and only 144 miles of paved roads.

The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph.

The tallest structure in the world was the
Eiffel Tower!
The average wage in 1909 was 22 cents per hour.

The average worker made between $200 and $400 per year .

A competent accountant could expect to earn $2000 per year,
A dentist $2,500 per year, a veterinarian between $1,500 and $4,000 per year, and a mechanical engineer about $5,000 per year.

More than 95 percent of all births took place at
HOME .

Ninety percent of all doctors had
NO COLLEGE EDUCATION!

Instead, they attended so-called medical schools, many of which were condemned in the press AND the government as 'substandard. '
Sugar cost four cents a pound.

Eggs were fourteen cents a dozen.

Coffee was fifteen cents a pound.

Most women only washed their hair once a month, and used
Borax or egg yolks for shampoo.
Canada
passed a law that prohibited poor people from entering into their country for any reason.
Five leading causes of death were:

1. Pneumonia and influenza
2. Tuberculosis
3. Diarrhea
4. Heart disease
5. Stroke

The American flag had 45 stars.

The population of
Las Vegas, Nevada, was only 30!!!!

Crossword puzzles, canned beer, and ice tea hadn't been invented yet.

There was no Mother's Day or Father's Day.

Two out of every 10 adults couldn't read or write.

Only 6 percent of all Americans had graduated from high school.
Marijuana, heroin, and morphine were all available over the counter at the local corner drugstores. Back then pharmacists said, 'Heroin clears the complexion, gives buoyancy to the mind, regulates the stomach and bowels, and is, in fact, a perfect guardian of health'
(Shocking? DUH!)
Eighteen percent of households had at least one full-time servant or domestic help.

There were about 230 reported murders in the ENTIRE
U.S.A.!
I am now going to forward this to someone else without typing it myself... From there, it will be sent to others all over the
WORLD - all in a matter of seconds!

Try to imagine what it may be like in another 100 years.
IT STAGGERS THE MIND

An Old Farmer's Advice:

* Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight
and bull-strong.

* Keep skunks and bankers at a
distance.

* Life is simpler when you plow around the stump.

* A bumble bee is considerably faster than a
John Deere tractor.

* Words that soak into your ears are whispered...not yelled.

* Meanness don't jes' happen overnight.

* Forgive your enemies. It messes up their heads.

* Do not corner something that you know is meaner
than you.

* It don't take a very big person to carry a
grudge.

* You cannot unsay a cruel word.

* Every path has a few puddles.

* When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.

* The best sermons are lived, not preached.

* Most of the stuff people worry about ain't

never gonna happen anyway.

* Don't judge folks by their relatives.

* Remember that silence is sometimes the best
answer.

* Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get
older and think back, you'll enjoy it a second time.

* Don't interfere with somethin' that ain't

botherin' you none.

* Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a

rain dance.

* If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin'.

* Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got.

* The biggest troublemaker you'll probably ever
have to deal with, watches you from

the mirror every mornin'.

* Always drink upstream from the herd.

* Good judgment comes from experience, and a
lotta that comes from bad judgment.

* Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot
easier than puttin' it back in.

* If you get to thinkin' you're a person of some
influence, try orderin' somebody else's dog around.

* Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply.
Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.

HOW TO STAY YOUNG

1. Try everything twice. On one woman's tombstone she said she wanted this epitaph: Tried everything twice...loved it both times!

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down. ( Keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches)

3. Keep learning: Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain get idle.' An idle mind is the devil's workshop.' And the devil's name is Alzheimer's!

4. Enjoy the simple things.

. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath. And if you have a friend who makes you laugh, spend lots and lots of time with HIM/HER.

6. The tears happen: Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life is ourselves. LIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love: Whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, and hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, or a trip to the next county or a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.
I love you, my special friend.

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Just a Mom?

JUST A MOM?

A woman, renewing her driver's license at the County Clerk 's office,
was asked by the woman recorder to state her occupation.

She hesitated, uncertain how to classify herself.

"What I mean is, " explained the recorder,
"do you have a job or are you just a ..?"

"Of course I have a job," snapped the woman.

"I'm a Mom."

"We don't list 'Mom' as an occupation, 'housewife' covers it,"

Said the recorder emphatically.

I forgot all about her story until one day I found myself in the same situation, this time at our own Town Hall.
The Clerk was obviously a career woman, poised,
efficient, and possessed of a high sounding title like,
"Official Interrogator" or "Town Registrar.."

"What is your occupation?" she probed.

What made me say it? I do not know..

The words simply popped out.

"I'm a Research Associate in the field of
Child Development and Human Relations."

The clerk paused, ball-point pen frozen in midair and
looked up as though she had not heard right.

I repeated the title slowly emphasizing the most significant words..
Then I stared with wonder as my pronouncement was written,
in bold, black ink on the official questionnaire.

"Might I ask," said the clerk with new interest,
"just what you do in your field?"

Coolly, without any trace of fluster in my voice,
I heard myself reply,
"I have a continuing program of research,
(what mother doesn't)
In the laboratory and in the field,
(normally I would have said indoors and out)..
I'm working for my Masters, (first the Lord and then the whole family)
and already have four credits (all daughters).
Of course, the job is one of the most demanding in the humanities,
(any mother care to disagree?)
and I often work 14 hours a day, (24 is more like it).
But the job is more challenging than most run-of-the-mill careers and the rewards are
more of a satisfaction rather than just money."
There was an increasing note of respect in the clerk's voice as she
completed the form, stood up, and personally ushered me to the door.

As I drove into our driveway, buoyed up by my glamorous new career,
I was greeted by my lab assistants -- ages 13, 7, and 3.
Upstairs I could hear our new experimental model,
(a 6 month old baby) in the child development program,
testing out a new vocal pattern.

I felt I had scored a beat on bureaucracy!
And I had gone on the official records as someone more distinguished and indispensable to mankind than "just another Mom."
Motherhood!

What a glorious career!
Especially when there's a title on the door.

Does this make grandmothers
"Senior Research associates in the field of Child Development and Human Relations"
And great grandmothers

"Executive Senior Research Associates?"
I think so!!!

WORRY

Is there a magic cut-off period when
Offspring become accountable for their own
Actions? Is there a wonderful moment when
Parents can become detached spectators in
The lives of their children and shrug,

It's their life,' and feel nothing?

When I was in my twenties, I stood in a hospital
Corridor waiting for doctors to put a few
Stitches in my daughter's head. I asked, 'When do
You stop worrying?' The nurse said,
'When they get out of the accident stage.' My
Dad just smiled faintly and said nothing.

When I was in my thirties, I sat on a little
Chair in a classroom and heard how one of my
Children talked incessantly, disrupted the class,
And was headed for a career making
License plates. As if to read my mind, a teacher
Said, 'Don't worry, they all go through
This stage and then you can sit back, relax and
Enjoy them.' My dad just smiled
Faintly and said nothing.

When I was in my forties, I spent a lifetime
Waiting for the phone to ring, the cars to come
Home, the front door to open. A friend said,
'They're trying to find themselves. Don't worry,
In a few years, you can stop worrying. They'll be
Adults.' My dad just smiled faintly
And said nothing.

By the time I was 50, I was sick & tired of being
Vulnerable. I was still worrying over my
Children, but there was a new wrinkle. There
Was nothing I could do about it. My
Dad just smiled faintly and said nothing. I
Continued to anguish over their failures, be
Tormented by their frustrations and absorbed in
Their disappointments.

My friends said that when my kids got married I
Could stop worrying and lead my own
Life. I wanted to believe that, but I was
Haunted by my dad's warm smile and his occasional,

'You look pale. Are you all right?
Call me the minute you get home. Are
You depressed about something?'

Can it be that parents are sentenced to a
Lifetime of worry? Is concern for one another
Handed down like a torch to blaze the trail of
Human frailties and the fears of the
Unknown? Is concern a curse or is it a virtue
That elevates us to the highest form of life?

One of my children became quite irritable
Recently, saying to me, 'Where were you? I've been
Calling for 3 days, and no one
answered I was worried.'
I smiled a warm smile.
The torch has been passed.
